The pirates demand that Jack and Annie help them find the treasure before they will let them go. Will they be able to find the treasure and escape?
Positive Messages:
The siblings band together to work through their challenges on their adventures and demonstrate good teamwork. Never give up is also a common theme throughout the series as the characters try to figure out some tough challenges.
Language:
None.
Violence & Scariness:
Captain Bones locks the children in a dark room on the ship. He tells them he will kill them if they don’t help him find the treasure.
The pirates have duels and fist fights. Captain Bones tells the children they will rot on his ship unless they help him find the treasure.
Parents Should Know:
In this book, the characters find out that the parrot named Polly is actually an enchantress named Morgan le Fay. Morgan tells them that she has cast a magic spell on the tree house and that it can take her anywhere in time. She tells them that the tree house is invisible to everyone else, but they can see it because Annie believes in magic, and Jack’s love of books allowed him to see it too.
Mom Says:
I loved this series! I would say you could read this up until age 9, and then your child may start to outgrow it. We read these books every single night until we had read the entire series. The characters mostly go back in time, although there are a few futuristic adventures, and it really sparked an interest in history for both Autumn and Aubrey.
